Wow, well here it is, my first blog using the amazing Zenfolio website service. I've dabbled with a blog on Tumblr, but this one I hope to keep more updated.
The image I have chosen to start this epic blog was taken in 2009. The photo was taken in a squatted building in North East London. The squat had been used for an art show put on by the Temporary Arts Autonomous. They are a non profit group who put on art shows in abandoned and squatted buildings. This was the only room in the building they didn't clear up for the show, as it needed a new roof. The floor was covered in puddles of water and moss growing in patches. There was some rubble and pieces of the roof dotted around in small piles with dead pigeons scattered inbetween. This room used to house a religious ministry at one stage and since it's demise has been left to rot. It was a perfect location for a fun shoot with some friends of mine. They are part of a group of crazy ladies that love to perform at mad parties. We had great fun with the shoot. There was little planning done and the ideas were all on the day. I hadn't seen the location yet either. I was using my studio lights which for this shot I wish they were a little more powerful than the 400w they are. The water dripping from the ceiling was slightly disconcerting as the worst leeks were right where the lights and the power cords plugged in together needed to be. I learnt allot from this shoot and it inspired me in thinking about the style of photography I love doing the most and to develop it further.
So that was 2009, this is now 2013. I will put up on my blog a few more images from then until now, then I hope to put regular work on here to show what I'm up to.
I'm sure my written part of my blogs will get better and possibly more to the point.
